Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was invited by renowned Time Magazine for a dinner after being named among hundred most influential people of the world has decided not to attend the gala party on April 24 in New York as she is said to be “preoccupied” with another programme in Jangalmahal on the same day.

"She (Mamata) is in no mood to make the trip to New York because of her work schedule in Bengal," Trinamool Congress spokesperson and the party MP Derek O'Brien tweeted on Saturday.

However, US President Barack Obama too will not be able to take part in the dinner, but, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expected to attend the party.

Earlier, CM’s office got the invitation letter on Friday through US embassy but Banerjee expressing happiness over the honour apprised of her inability to attend the function. She assured US embassy representative of visiting Time magazine office whenever she flies to New York.

Banerjee shares space on the Time Magazine's list with US President Barack Obama, billionaire investor Warren Buffet, Pakistan's first Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
