New Delhi: Much before terming the Naxalites as ‘Supari Killer’ and giving them a seven-day ultimatum to surrender their arms, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had started her exercise to fight the menace of red terror.

By launching a campaign against the Naxalites, Mamata has urged the Centre for two additional battalions of CRPF for anti-Naxal operations. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has given its nod to it.

After coming to power, Mamata had not only stopped all the campaigns against the Naxalites but had also put stay order on phone tapping.

Taking soft stand of Mamata into consideration, the Naxalites transformed the Jangal Mahal area into the training center of the guerrilla war.

However, recently, Mamata in a rally in the same area had termed the Naxalites as ‘Supari Killer’ and gave them a seven-day ultimatum to surrender their arms. Sources said the state is gearing up to launch full-fledged operations against Naxalits.
