Badu (WB): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, a vociferous critic of P Chidambaram's pet project of setting up an anti-terror body, on Saturday skipped the Home Minister's function to inaugurate the NSG hub here.

While her name was initially included in the brochure, it was subsequently deleted and no reason was given for her absence.

Trinamool Congress leader and Union Minister of State for Shipping Mukul Roy and West Bengal Food Minister Jyotipriya Mallick attended the programme.

In her letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Banerjee has asked him to ‘review and withdraw’ the proposal for establishment of National Counter-Terrorism Centre.

"It is difficult for the state government to accept such arbitrary exercise of power by the Central Government or central agency, which has a bearing on the rights and privileges of the states as enshrined in the Constitution of India," she had said.
