Kolkata:  Lambasting the Left Front government which was in power in West Bengal for 34 years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “As they were responsible for the deplorable condition of the state, the communist leaders do not have the right to oppose us on this issue.”

Miffed over the issue, she said, “Only the people of West Bengal can raise questions before the government and ask for the details of development projects.”

In the foundation day ceremony of Congress Student Council at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Sunday, she said, “CPM in its long tenure of 34 years has dominated the employee committees of Health and Education department, and in the past three months we have been successful in breaking the Left stronghold.”

Scoffing at the Left Front, she added, “The Left Front government had appointed Comrades to distribute medicines, and anyone who failed in Communist values was not provided medicines in government hospitals.” She further went on to say that people associated with CPM were appointed as Principals and were given senior designations in Universities. The CM alleged the state administration and police department of a puppet in the hands of former Left Front government.

Highlighting her achievements, Banerjee claimed “Meaningful steps were undertaken to solve the controversial issues of Gorkhaland, Singur and Junglemahal. Since the Singur matter is under the consideration of the court, it may take some time.”
