Chandauli (UP): A 40-year-old man was on Thursday killed when a truck hit his bicycle in Parao area triggering protests by locals who torched a police motorcycle and tried to set the truck on fire.
   
Babu Lal was killed this morning when his cycle was hit by the truck, they said. The locals, however, alleged that a police constable was taking bribe from the truck driver near the accident site and the mishap occurred when the said truck tried to run away to avoid it.
   
Following the incident, the mob angry staged a sit-in on the road which was later cleared after police intervened into the matter, Superintendent of Police Amit Pathak said.
   
The SP has assured the people that the matter would be probed and action would be initiated against all those found guilty. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and the inquiry into the allegation of bribe being taken by a policeman near the incident site was on, the SP added.
