Kolkata: In a welcome relief for his family, an Indian national returned home after serving 20 years of imprisonment in Bangladesh jail on charges of infiltrating into Bangladesh territory.

48-years-old Amresh Vishwas was sentenced with 30 years of imprisonment by a court in Bangladesh under Arms Act. However, he was released before the jail term period on the grounds of good conduct.

Vishwas is a resident of Ashok Nagar locality of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.

According to S R Mishra, SP, Nadia, “Vishwas was arrested by the Bangladesh police on the charges of illegally infiltrating into Bangladesh.  Vishwas had gone to meet his relatives who live in Kulopada and Tungi provinces of Burhanpur district of Bangladesh.”

BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) officials handed over Vishwas to BSF on Gede border. He was then handed over to the Nadia police from where he finally met his relatives.
