Before inaugurating the stadium, a statue of Swami Vivekananda was also unveiled by Manik Sarkar.
    
Rs 9 crore was spent for construction of the stadium with a sitting capacity of around 8000 including a grand stand and press gallery.
    
A permanent open stage 'Mukta Mancha' was built at the northern side of the stadium for organizing mass gatherings and public rallies. The area of the ground is 7350 square metre.
    
Inaugurating the stadium, Manik Sarkar said that Vivekananda is the icon of youth and his teachings are very relevant to build a strong society.
    
Among others, secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Tripura spoke at the function.
