While 10 candidates will contest from Outer Manipur constituency (hill districts), eight will try their luck from Inner Manipur (valley districts). Sunday was the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.
In Outer and Inner Manipur, polling will be held on April 9 and April 17 respectively.
Prominent candidates in the first phase are sitting Congress MP Thangso Baite, Gangmumei Kamei (Bharatiya Janata Party), C Doungel (Nationalist Congress Party), Kim Gangte (Trinamool congress), Soso Lorho (Naga People's Front), L Gangte (Janata Dal-United) and MK Zou (Aam Aadmi Party), sources said.
Sitting MP Th Meinya (Congress), RK Ranjan (BJP), Tonsana Sharma (Manipur Democratic Front), Oinam Jotin (Jai Mahabharat Party), Kh. Ibomcha (AAP), S Manaobi (Trinamool Congress), and M Nara (CPI) are among contestants from Inner Manipur.
