Transport services between Manipur and neighbouring states were cancelled in view of the general strike which began at 5 am on Monday, official sources said.
While markets, shops, business establishments were open at several places in the capital complex here but they remained closed at Khurai and Lamlong areas in Imphal East district, from where the victim identified as Meisnam Devaraj hailed, reports reaching in Imphal said.

The joint action committee (JAC), formed by residents of Khurai and Lamlong areas in connection with the killing, has given the general strike call.
Reports from interior districts said life was normal with markets, shops, business establishments remaining open as the people there did not know about the general strike called by the JAC.
A JCB excavator was hired by some youths on October 14 and the driver along with the heavy vehicle was missing from the same day.
His body was recovered from Tupul area in Senapati district on October 26.
Superintendent of police (Imphal West district) K Jayenta whose team found the body said Devaraj was allegedly killed by five persons who wanted to sell the excavator for money.
He said five persons were arrested and interrogation was on. Four of the five arrested were members of a family, he said.
All the arrested people were involved in extortion cases, he said. Several social organizations in separate statements had demanded immediate punishment to the killers as per provisions of the law.
The house of the main accused was damaged by local residents at Thanga area in Bishenpur district, the sources said.
