The meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the Home portfolio, discussed in detail the last Friday's bomb blast here that killed nine labourers from outside the state and injured 12 others.
"We have taken a decision to intensify the security measures in Imphal and greater Imphal areas to prevent recurrence of such incident (Friday incident)," sources said quoting a senior police officer who attended the meeting.
Manipur DGP Mrinal Kanti Das, Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu, Inspector Generals of Police, Superintendents of Police, top security officials from Assam Rifles and other para military forces attended the meeting, sources said.
Speaking at the meeting, Gaikhangam stressed on the need to develop good relations between the public and police, sources said, adding that all the security officials have been instructed to intensify security measures including patrolling to detect movement of militants within their jurisdiction.
The meeting also discussed the lack of infrastructure at various police stations in the state and laid emphasis on taking proper steps to improve the infrastructural facilities at these places, sources said.
