As per reports, Singh will resign at 12.45 pm on Saturday. The Prime Minister will address the nation before demitting office.

He will meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday afternoon to submit his resignation.

The 81-year-old Prime Minister had announced earlier this year that he would not seek a third term in case the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) comes back to power..

Modi after leading the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to its best ever performance, by orchestrating an unprecedented rout of the Congress party, will be sworn-in as India’s 18th Prime Minister on May 21.

The final figures are yet to be revealed but the trends categorically epitomize BJP’s win, which appears all set to break the 300-seat barrier with the support of its allies.

If the BJP-led NDA manages to do so, it will be the biggest win in country’s political history since 1984.

Modi will also be India’s first OBC Prime Minister to lead the world’s largest democracy.
