"I will not give excise licence to anyone who wants to start a dance bar in Goa," Parrikar said in response to a question during a post-cabinet meeting media interaction.

Parrikar's statement comes at a time when several people have been arrested and a host of women 'rescued' from dance bars operating in the tourism-oriented coastal belt.

The issue of dance bars is back in focus after the Supreme Court overruled the Maharashtra government's 2006 ban, giving a go-ahead to the re-opening of dance bars in the state.
