Hazaribagh (Jharkhand): Three Maoists on Friday started an indefinite hunger strike inside the Hazaribagh Central Jail to press for fulfillment of their two demands.

Jailor Chandresekhar Suman said a demand was to shift Anuradha Sharma, the ailing wife of one of them from jail hospital to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for better treatment.

Anuradha, lodged in the same jail as a Maoist, is the wife of Ravi Sharma, a member of the Bihar-Jharkhand Action Committee of the CPI(Maoist).

The jailor said the board of doctors recommended the authorities to shift her to the RIMS and the recommendation was had already been forwarded to the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner.

The other demand of the three was that Maoist Rahul Munda, who was at Chaibasa Jail before being shifted here, be sent back to the Chaibasa jail, the jailor said.
