The new model will now be launched in 2017, instead of the upcoming festive season, according to sources. Maruti Suzuki is planning to begin the production of Ignis from the last week of November which was supposed to begin from the end of September.

Any new product, before launching, goes through a series of trial production. With waiting (Vitara Brezza and Baleno) customers, it was decided that instead of blocking capacity ahead of the festive season towards trial of Ignis, the company would rather produce more of the in-demand products and reduce their waiting period," revealed one of the sources.

Maruti Suzuki dealers anticipate Ignis may spike up the sales volume by 60,000 to 80,000 units yearly, and the additional volumes would have over-burdened company’s already stretched manufacturing capacity
