New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has planned to launch the facelift version of its popular small car Maruti WagonR.

The WagonR, launched in December 1999, has since undergone three upgrades (first in 2003, anothers in 2006 and 2010).

Changes in the WagonR could be seen in the fog lamps, grill, front and the bumper. At present, the Wagon R, powered by a 1-liter K Series, is available in three guises – Petrol, CNG and LPG.

The sources reveal that the diesel variant of the model is likely to be launched in June. However, there is no official announcement by the company yet in this regard. It is also expected that it will be available with a slight increase in price i.e. upto Rs. 20,000. The car will compete with other hatchbacks in the market such as Honda Brio, Hyunda i10 and Chevrolet Beat. The interior too is expected to get subtle changes with additional features. As far as engine is concerned, no changes are expected on the facelift model.

During second quarter of this fiscal, the company had posted a 5.41 percent fall in net profit at Rs 227.45 crore, hit by an unprecedented violence at its Manesar plant in Gurgaon.
