Tauqeer, who had announced his support to the SP for being proponent of the secularism, had been quite upset over state government for setting up no probe commission to investigate into the riots during the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav government.

Tauqeer said that the children were dying at the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar. There have been more than 100 cases of riots reported in UP and the government formed no commission to probe them, added the Muslim cleric.

He said that he had suggested the government to constitute a commission comprising three Hindus, two Muslims and one female member. But the government paid no heed on it, added Tauqeer.

Last December, Tauqeer had resigned from the post of Advisor, Handloom and Textile Industries (MOS rank), UP government, blaming that state government failed to control riots.

In the past one month, Tauqeer is the second prominent Sunni leader to quit the party after Bareli’s Ulma Abid Khan.
