Gautam Budh Nagar to be turned commissionary

After UP Chief Minister Mayawati announced formation of three new districts in the state, Gautam Budh Nagar is expected to become a commissionary soon. Ghaziabad and Bulandshahar are also likely to join the same bandwagon.

This move came following the inconvenience caused to residents of Bulandshahar, Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar districts who had to visit divisional commissionary office located at Meerut.

Mayawati is expected to announce the new division either on October 2 or October 9 in Greater Noida. However, the authority and administration have begun preparations ahead of her visit.

On May 6, 1997 Gautam Budh Nagar was created by joining Dadri, Sikandrabad and Khurja. The district has three tehsils, four blocks and 421 villages. Now, the population of the district has doubled to 16.5 lakh.

Demands were soaring to join Bhulandshahar and Ghaziabad with Gautam Budh Nagar and declare it as a division.

However, according to unconfirmed reports, talks are still on to convert Gautam Budh Nagar into a division. According to sources, Mayawati can visit greater Noida on October 2 for final announcement.
