She said that ‘jungle raj’ is prevalent in Uttar Pradesh under the Samajwadi Party regime.

Reiterating her demand of President's rule in Uttar Pradesh, she said: “I have been demanding President's rule in Uttar Pradesh for the last one year. I hope at least now the Governor takes cognizance.”

The incident, which took place on Wednesday in Katra village of the district, triggered protests in the area with villagers alleging the police apathy following which an FIR was registered against seven persons including constables Sarvesh Yadav and Rakshapal Yadav.

The National Commission of Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the gruesome incident and set up an enquiry committee to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, Mayawati further said that the state is facing severe power crisis.

“Except for Samajwadi Party’s family constituencies, rest of the state is suffering from major power crisis,” the BSP supremo said.
