Lucknow: Taking a serious note of swelling numbers of incidents of atrocities towards Dalits in Uttar Pradesh, Ramnath Kovind, a senior BJP leader and in-charge of BJP SC/ST Morcha has accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of ignoring the socially backward community.

He said, “The Mayawati government should unveil its plans for uplifting Dalits in the state.”

“The Chief Minister has pretended to be daughter of Dalit and whenever she faces protest from the opposition parties, she encashes it. But the fact is she has ignored the backward community and done nothing for ameliorating them,” he added.

“Mayawati will never be reckoned as the supporter of the Dalits rather she would be remembered as great exploiter of the community in history,” he said.

While talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said, “The BSP which came to power by promising uplift of Scheduled Castes in the state has continuously ignored them during its four-and-a-half-year governance.”

Kovind said, “No major work was done for the betterment of the community in education and employment sectors.”
