New Delhi: Terming the case politically motivated, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has sought to quash criminal proceedings pending against her in the disproportionate assets case.

Earlier, Mayawati had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in 2008 for dropping the disproportionate assets case against her, which has been pending for three years.

In a fresh affidavit filed in the Apex Court, Mayawati cited reasons for abolishing the case. She said the Income Tax Commissioner has given her immunity from the prosecution.

“The probe agency should drop the proceedings against me in the wake of the Commissioner Income Tax's (CIT appeal) order of May 27, 30 and 31 2011,” said the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo.

In the affidavit Behenji argued the IT Commissioner’s order is binding on the CBI.

She said a memorandum was submitted to the CBI Director on June 15 to reconsider the entire case following the orders passed by the IT Commissioner.
