Lucknow: Already in the throes of controversy, drafting panel of the Jan Lokpal Bill has faced an another jolt when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati reprimanded the Centre and social activist Anna Hazare, for not including any Dalit member in the panel.

Mayawati urged Anna Hazare for the inclusion of any learned and apolitical Dalit in his panel which is drafting Jan Lokpal Bill.

She slammed the Congress-led UPA government for not adding a Dalit member to the drafting committee.

“Even after 63 years of independence, is there not a single befitting dalit to join the drafting panel?” she asked.

She said that Anna Hazare should have kept it in mind before naming the members of the committee. “This mistake should be rectified,” she added.

The CM also advised the civil society that the panel should distance itself from those whose integrity is in doubt.

Meanwhile, according to sources, film director Mahesh Bhatt and historian K N Pannikar raised questions at Hazare’s corruption campaign. They charged him for adopting an authoritarian approach in choosing the civil society members for the panel.

They also criticised Hazare for appreciating Gujarat CM Narendra Modi.
