Lucknow: In the wake of non-compliance of Allahabad High Court’s order to issue notification for the local body polls in Uttar Pradesh by October 31, the state government is contemplating to file reconsideration petition in the High Court on Monday.
Evidently, the High Court, on October 19, passed judgement on the UP local polls and sought UP government to issue notification on this by October 3. The court also asked the government to conduct elections on November 15. Surprisingly, the ruling dispensation failed to issue any notification despite having deliberation with the state election commission on October 23.

According to the sources, it is likely that the state government in its defence will point out unavailability of Census 2011 for their failure in completing the process of conducting local polls.  It is expected that the state government will request the court to provide detailed report of Census 2011 at the earliest.

Interestingly, the Census Commissioner has cleared that the figures of Census will not be made available before March 2013. Sources say, in such situation the court will either ask the Directorate of Census to provide the latest count of population within two to three months or allow the UP government to hold elections on the basis of Census 2001.

More so, it is also expected that the UP government will challenge the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court seeking more time for conducting the local body polls.
