Lucknow: Lokayukta Justice (retd.) NK Mehrotra on Tuesday issued notice against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's confidante and high profile multi-portfolio minister Nasimuddin Siddiqui following multiple complaints of irregularities against him and has sought details of properties possessed by him and his relatives till December 28.

Smelling a rat during the preliminary enquiries into the charges alleged by complainants Ashish Dixit and Jagdish Narayan, the Lokayukta booked Nasimuddin, his wife Husna Siddiqui, member of Legislative Council, and his relatives for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets, granting undue favours to his close relatives and friends and breaching procedural norms in the allotment of sand mining contracts.

Charging Nasimuddin of nepotism, Dixit alleged the minister of favouring his near and dear ones in allotting sand mining contracts in Banda and nearby areas.  Besides this he has also illegal possessions of assets in many regions of the state.

“Husna had illegally purchased properties in Barabanki,” Narayan alleged.

Lokayukta Mehrotra said, “The Cabinet Minister is alleged of misusing his position and breaching the norms in allotting contracts. The information on bidding of the contracts was published in only three local newspapers. Further investigation will clear the air.”
