On March 9, the PAC released names of eight candidates for MCD bypolls which are expected to be held next month. Contesting in 13 wards will be AAP's maiden outing in the municipal corporation polls after the party's stupendous feat in the Assembly election last year when it won 67 out of 70 seats.

The civic bodies are currently controlled by BJP. Fresh full-fledged polls to MCD are expected to take place next year. In January, the Delhi High Court has ordered bypolls to be held at the earliest.
