New Delhi: Worried over the intense protest by the disgruntled party workers ahead of elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been taking careful steps in releasing the list of candidates. It is due to this reason the party has not yet declared the names of those party workers who will enter the electoral battle field.

In order to avoid any resentment within the party, few party workers were secretly called at former BJP national president and in-charge of Delhi, Venkaiah Naidu’s residence on late Sunday night. Sources say, party symbols were given to those candidates who will contest the elections this year.

If the sources are to be believed, candidates whose tickets were finalized for were called at Naidu’s residence at 11 pm on Sunday. Since Monday is the last day for the nomination the process continued throughout the night so that the selected party workers can submit their nomination papers.

Meanwhile, riled with the BJP election committee, the party workers protested outside Naidu’s residence and accused the party leaders of taking bribe in ticket distribution.

Expressing displeasure over the high command’s stance in distribution of tickets, many party workers are of the opinion that it will raise internal discord within the party and would lead to factionalism. Besides, it would demoralise the party workers, especially youth who will take any further initiative to connect with the party.
