New Delhi: Delhiites are just a call away to register their complaints regarding garbage problems with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

With the aim to ensure cleanliness in the national capital, MCD has come forward with a Facebook page on which a layman can post his complaints regarding filth and garbage in the surroundings. And for this, one does not have to compulsorily log on to the social networking site.

People can simply dial 011-46485270 and tell their grievances regarding cleanliness problems. The complaints will automatically get uploaded on the Facebook page and the complainant will receive a reference number through SMS regarding the same.

Through this, problems relating to dirty urinals will also be solved.

KS Mehra, MCD Commissioner, said that this facility will start from April 2. Elaborating on his point he said, “Through this facility, people will be able to register their complaints in large numbers. This will help the MCD in improving the system”.

He said that through the Facebook page, apart from complaining about garbage, people will also be able to complain about the ill-maintained, waterless urinals and public toilets. There are 602 active waterless urinals and 1,033 public toilets in Delhi.

The MCD roped in Foundation for Innovation and Technology and IIT Delhi for this service.
One can upload pictures and videos about the problems too. Immediate action will be taken by the authorities following the complaint.

People have lauded this service by the MCD. Till now, the agency has solved around 350 problems. However, other civic complaints are not been monitored by it.

Mehra said that in future other civic problems will also be addressed but it will take time.
