"It is unfortunate that we resident doctors who are considered the backbone of any hospital are exploited to such level that we are slowly being forced to resort to the medium of strikes to let our voices to be heard or ultimately leaving the government sector job.

"Despite many promises, doctors were not paid. We have decided to approach court", said Dr Pankaj Solanki, president, FORDA.

FORDA members have said that 15,000 resident doctors from 35 central government, Delhi government and MCD hospitals will go on strike if their demands are not met.

The doctors had previously gone on a week-long strike from December 18. The strike was called off after promises were made that salaries would be paid by the end of the month.
