New Delhi: With the elections of trifurcated Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) inching closer, the battle for clinching the power is becoming more intense day-by-day. The ruling BJP on Friday cleared over 100 proposals in a 20 minute MCD meeting, leaving the Opposition Congress to cry foul  and knock the doors of state Election Commission on the issue.

Blaming the BJP of violating the model code of conduct which has been enforced from last Monday observing the MCD polls commencing on April 15, Congress Councillor Ajit Singh and others sought the state Election Commission to cancel all the proposals passed on Friday by the BJP.

Taking serious cognisance of the issue MCD Commissioner KS Mehra assured the parties of strict action in case of model code violations.

Meanwhile, the BJP accused the Shiela Dikshit government of impartial treatment with the MCD.

The proposals cleared in the MCD meet by the Leader of the House Subhash Arya states that the state government has reduced the global share and transfer duty of the MCD. Besides irregularities in the adjustment of the sixth pay commission has also been cited in the proposal.

Mayor Rajni Abbi had written to MCD Commissioner asking him to facilitate the release of pensions of widows, retired officials and handicaps immediately.
