Congress expels rebel councilors

After trying hard to appease the disgruntled party workers posing as a threat to the poll candidates, the Congress has suspended four rebels from the party's primary membership. Such a strict disciplinary action just before the announcement of the party manifesto on Saturday indicates that the party wants to solve all issues and kickstart their campaign for the MCD election scheduled to begin next week on a positive note.

Talking to the reporters on Friday, State Congress president Jai Prakash Agarwal said, “Satender Rana, contesting the polls as an independent candidate from ward number - 134 has been expelled from the party."

He added, the party has also expelled Kaptan Singh, Ramesh Pehlwan and Sunil Vashisht from the party. All the three are secretaries in the state Congress committee and their wives are contesting elections as independents against official party candidates.

Agarwal said, the state Congress committee has appointed a supervisor in each of the 14 districts. Soon the supervisors will also be appointed in all constituencies and wards who will keep a watch on the MCD polls.
