New Delhi: As the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) inches closer, the state Election Commission is facing trouble in gathering information regarding the candidates fighting electoral battle. Owing to technical glitches the EC is not receiving the details related to the nomination papers filed by the candidates from different zonal offices.

There has been a difference in the figures uploaded on the official website and that available with the EC. The nominations are being directly uploaded on the website from Deputy Commissioner's officers. However, the EC has not been receiving the appropriate list on a regular note.

The commission has made arrangements of filing nominations in 68 offices of returning officers. Through these offices candidatures list has to be delivered to state election commission office by 6 in the evening. However, due to technical difficulties the information is not being further passed on.

It can be gauged from the fact that on Tuesday as many as 46 candidates filed the nominations from different wards but EC had list of only 39 candidates. The difference in the information on website and that with the Election Commission is visible in ward no 39, 68, 248, 269 and 27.

According to one of the officer in EC who preferred anonymity, “The department has been receiving nominations but there are chances of error during the accumulation of details.”
