New Delhi: The Delhi Government which was once too keen on trifurcation of the MCD is now itself delaying the process. Even after getting the President’s approval on the proposal, the file pertaining to the trifurcation of the MCD is still at the Delhi Secretariat and has failed to reach the residence of Lt Governor.

The entire process can only be completed after the Lt Governor gives his nod and announces a date for it. But the file is yet to reach him and is stuck in the department of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs of the Delhi government.

Earlier the file relating to the trifurcation of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also got misplaced at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Top sources have said that the file pertaining to the trifurcation of the MCD was sent to Rashtrapati Bhawan for the President’s approval and had gone missing from the precincts of Raisina Hill.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of North Delhi division has decided to hold the elections of MCD in the first week of April. Prior to the elections, the EC wanted to decide on the issue of giving 50 percent reservation to women. For which, it wanted to consult all the political parties.

However, this move has got stuck due to non announcement of the MCD trifurcation date.
