Kozhikode: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni on Wednesday said the media should fulfill its commitment to society it serves by adhering to basic principles of objectivity and pursuit of truth.

The Minister said in an atmosphere of high competition, media should not forget they have a duty to inform people of the development and welfare activities.

She regretted that while disruptions of proceedings in the Parliament received dominant treatment in the media, meaningful debates were often dismissed in a few lines.

While highlighting corruption and ineptitude of the administration, media should also give due prominence to good things done by the government, she said.
