Mumbai, Jan 19 (Agencies): Chennai-based Mediaone Global Entertainment (Mediaone) on Wednesday said it has inked a 50:50 joint venture with Avon Global Solutions Pvt Ltd for introducing advance digital transmission technology, SecureDuct.

"Both JV partners will invest total of Rs 110 crore in this state-of-the-art technology and hopes to earn revenue over Rs 900 crore in the first three-year period," Mediaone Managing Director Suryaraj Kumar told reporters here.

SecureDuct technology is very simple, akin to sending email with attachment. Using it, Mediaone will distribute movie prints to theatres worldwide through satellite, which will help in reducing the cost of distribution.

The cost of acquiring a movie for theatres will be reduced to almost nothing from the current distribution cost works out at approximately Rs 80,000 per movie print through this technology. This will be a direct saving for the cinema owners. Not only they save on the  print cost, they can earn from other programmes inbuilt, Kumar said.

SecureDuct will also provide protection from all methods of movie piracy, including filming the movie from the screen. A video scrambling technology based on frame rates will be deployed to achieve this, Avon Global Head Vasanthakrishnan said.

Through this technology, cinema owners will not only save on the print cost, but also have a chance to earn money by using SecureDuct through our ad-revenue sharing programme, he said.

Mediaone is a BSE-listed company in the entertainment and media space. Avon Global is primarily into software development and IT consulting.
