District Magistrate Pankaj Yadav on Monday said that the agitating sanitation workers have postponed their strike for a day after a meeting with him on Sunday.
During the meeting, he understood their demands following which he made an appeal to them to postpone the strike, he said.

The Municipal Corporation needs to pass a proposal for the hike and send it to the administration, he said.

On the other hand, leader of sanitation workers T C Manotia said that the strike has been postponed for a day but no worker will pick or drop garbage.

"Future course of action would be decided on the outcome of the Corporation's board meeting," he said.

The sanitation workers were on strike since April 16 to push their demand for an increase in honorarium to Rs 14,990.
