The sports car was  first unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. The machine was initially equipped with a mid-mounted Ford Ecoboost Engine but due to cost reasons, DC has shifted to a Renault-sourced, 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 250 bhp.

The sports car is likely to be launched this month and may be priced around Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

With a ground clearance of 170mm and the 20-inch wheels with 255/35 front tyres and 295/30 rear tyres, the car will come equipped with 330mm ventilated four-pot disc brakes at the front and 295mm at the rear.

The Avanti features a centre console with stacked screens, a 3-spoke steering wheel, a touch-screen infotainment system, chrome surrounds and body coloured separators.

DC Design showcased the ‘Avanti’, in a brand new avatar, totally removed from 2008 DC ‘S’ at the 2012 Auto Expo at Delhi.

The first pre–production Avanti was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo as the final designed, engineered and produced version of the original 2012 concept - again to a great response.

While this version was unmistakably identifiable as the 2012 Avanti concept, in effect there are no two parts in common with the original 2012 concept.

The rest of 2014 was spent engineering the cars for production. Once design and engineering was frozen, several validation vehicles were involved in lakhs of kilometers of testing, across India, the design, reliability and serviceability of the design.
