Dr. Ganesh Rakh has waived off maternity charges in hundreds of deliveries, both normal and caesarian. You will be surprised to know that Dr. Rakh celebrates the birth of every girl child in his hospital by distributing sweets.  

Recently, Dr. Rakh has been approached by 17-18 gram panchayats and hundreds of doctors who have promised him to support his campaign. Inspired by Dr. Rakh, another doctor Pravin Dungarvar, who runs Anand Hospital at Kunjirwadi in Haveli taluka, has started waiving off half charges on maternity.

According to media reports, nearly 3,000 doctors from the interiors of Maharashtra have joined his 'save girl child campaign. Son of a labourer, Dr Ganesh Rakh's journey of becoming a doctor is quite inspiring. Coming from the very humble background, Dr. Rakh faced so much hardship to achieve the milestone. His mother used to clean utensils.

After completing his medical education through scholarships, he borrowed loan for setting up the hospital. Dr Rakh set up a 25-bed Medicare General and Maternity Hospital in Hadapsar suburb of Pune in 2007.
