According to Tamil Nadu Speed Skating Association (TNSSA) General Secretary, Muruganandam, the event was the first-of-its-kind in Asia.

Darshini is the first child in Asia to achieve this feat in just 41.03 minutes. She took experts by surprise with impeccable speed and astonishing stamina.  Covering a distance of 10 km on roller skates for a 6 year old kid is beyond one’s  imagination but her love for skating makes Darshini a special child with extraordinary talent.

A student of Yuvabharathi Public School, Coimbatore, Darshini had qualified for the under-seven category in Quarter Skating Marathon.
Confirming her entry in India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records, Managing Editor of India Book of Records, Manmohan Rawat said that Darshini had set a new national benchmark.

Darshini had developed a passion for skating when she was in LKG. The young skater bagged gold medals in the 150 as well as the 500-metre events in the Coimbatore District Roller Skating Championship in 2014. Darshini also won gold and bronze medals at the national level event held in Goa in 2016.
