Srinagar: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti, has asked the state government to bring a White Paper on the financial aid received from the Centre for Madarsas in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mufti said, “The issue seems to be getting more complicated for the last one week, as new revelations are coming to fore every day.”

“The Union government claimed to have disbursed Rs 5 crore for the Madarsas while the Omar Abdullah government provided data of funds worth merely Rs 3.5 crore. There is a difference in the list of Madarsas compiled by both the Centre and the state government. Moreover, several Madarsas are only on paper,” added the PDP chief.

Commenting on the controversial issue, Madarsas organizers said, “We have received neither financial aid nor requested for it.”

“It seems the Centre has released the funds which are yet to reach the Madarsas. Therefore, the state government should bring the White Paper on the issue to ensure transparency in it,” Mufti added.
