Sasaram: The people hailing from Sasaram and adjoining areas have reasons to smile as the long wait for an express train to ply on newly laid Sasaram-Ara broad guage line came to an end on Saturday. The Indian Railways has started an Intercity Express from Bhabua Road station to Patna Junction (via Sasaram Junction).

Lok Sabha Speaker and local MP Meira Kumar on Saturday flagged off 13250 Bhabhua Road-Patna Junction (via Sasaram, Ara) Intercity Express from Bhabua Road station. She also travelled in the train from Bhabua Road to Sasaram.

While speaking to the reporters at Sasaram Junction, she said, “The longstanding demand has finally fulfilled today. I am thankful to the officials of the Indian Railways and vow to complete all pending works in the region.”

The 13250 Intercity Express will originate from Bhabua Road Station at 11 am daily and will take 5 hours and 20 minutes to reach its destination at Patna Junction. On its return journey, 13249 will depart from Patna Junction at 5pm and arrive Bhabua Road at 10:10pm. The distance between Patna and Bhabua is 194 km.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Indian Railways also extended the route of 13244 Dehri On Sone - Patna (via Gaya Junction) Intercity Express from Dehri to Bhabua Road (via Sasaram). Now, this train will leave Bhabua Road at 04:15am and will reach its destination at 10am. On its return journey, 13243 will depart from Patna Junction at 05:30pm and will reach Bhabua Road at 11:30pm.
