Jammu: In a bid to ensure better forecasting of weather and smooth functioning of the holy Amarnath Yatra, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) on Tuesday reviewed various measures for its endeavour.

“The Meteorological Department will establish three Advanced Warning systems (AWS) each at the Base Camps at Baltal and Pahalgam besides near the Cave. This will provide better and more accurate prediction of likely weather on a given date," said Amarnath Shrine Board CEO Navin Kumar Choudhary in a meeting at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

The officials also discussed various measures to deal with the harsh weather conditions faced by the pilgrims during the yatra.

Meteorological Department head Sonum Lotus along with other officials decided to set up three advanced warning systems at Baltal camp, Pahalgam and near the Amarnath cave.

This will not only benefit the pilgrims but the people of Kashmir will also be able to receive weather information throughout the year.

The Amarnath pilgrimage will start from June 25 for which the registrations will begin from May 7. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and the district administration are finalizing the arrangements for the pilgrimage. From now onwards, all the pilgrims wishing to go for the Amarnath yatra will have to acquire a health check-up certificate.
