The Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 sports 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection and is powered by MediaTek MT6592M SoC with a 1.4GHz octa-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

Xpress 2 supports 8GB of internal storage which can expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The phone packs 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 2MP front-facing camera.  The smartphone gets its juice from a 2,500mAh battery.

Micromax had also announced the budget Android smartphone Canvas Spark will go on open sale for a discounted price of Rs 4,999 on e-commerce website Snapdeal.

Micromax announced its Canvas Spark on a two-day open sale (July 27, 28) on Snapdeal.  The company had sold 20,000 units of Spark in two minutes in first sale. Ever since, five lakh  Canvas Spark units were sold out since its launch earlier this year in April.

According to research firm IDC, Korean electronics giant Samsung led the smartphone market in India with 22 per cent share, followed by homegrown vendors Micromax (18 per cent), Intex (8 per cent) and Lava (7 per cent) and Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi with 4 per cent share.
