Acting on a specific intelligence regarding movement of a group of terrorists in Haphruda forests of Kupwara, a joint search operation was launched by Army and the state police on Monday, May 5.

After three days of combing in the forests, the joint team, on Thursday at around 11.30 am, achieved the breakthrough.

The security forces seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

“Army and Police launched a search operation in Haphruda forests of Kupwara on May 5 following information about a militant hideout in the area,” a defence spokesman said on Friday.

According to the security forces, the recoveries include one pistol, three magazines, 12 Chinese grenades, two binoculars, two compasses, three rounds of RPG, two 60mm bombs, one wireless set and other administrative stores.
