Indore: A Mining Department officer on Wednesday deposed before the Special CBI court in Indore hearing IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh murder case.

R K Kaneria, Assistant Mining Officer, was examined by CBI's Senior Prosecutor A H Khan and cross-examined by Mahendra Morya, the defence lawyer of the accused Manoj Gurjar.

Gurjar is accused of mowing down Singh when the latter tried to stop a tractor-trolley loaded with illegally mined stones in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on March 8 this year.

Thirty-year-old Singh was posted as sub-divisional officer of police at Banmore at the time of incident. The court has framed charges against Gurjar under section 304 (culpable homicide) and 353 (use of criminal force to prevent government official from discharging his duties) of IPC and section 181 of Motor Vehicle Act.
