New Delhi: After hearing a petition of victims of Mirchpur case regarding the harassment of their advocates by people belonging to upper castes, the Supreme Court has directed Chief Judicial Magistrate of Hisar and Superintendent of Police to submit their report within the next two weeks.

It is noteworthy that to ensure a fair trial free of any pressure, the Supreme Court had shifted the trail of the case from Hisar to Rohni court. People belonging to upper caste are accused in the case.

Mirchpur case victims had moved a petition in the Apex Court mentioning that their advocates Rajat Kansal and Reki Ram are being harassed by people from upper castes.

According to the petition, on the behest of upper caste people, the two lawyers had been booked on false charges. However, Haryana government refuted the charges claiming that the case against the two advocates had no connection with the Mirchpur case.

An Apex Court bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly on Monday ordered Chief Judicial Magistrate and SP Hisar to probe the charges and submit their report within two weeks.
