New Delhi: In a strange gesture, the Congress has welcomed Anna Hazare’s campaign against the party in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. Citing the anti-graft crusader’s campaign as more of a boon than a bane in wooing Muslim vote bank in UP, the state’s Congress unit has asked Anna Hazare to campaign more against them.

The Congress which has always termed Anna Hazare as the part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is of the view that, the Anna campaign against the national party would not have any negative impact on the image of the party, rather would benefit them in strengthening their vote bank.

Three months back, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh after observing the equation shared by Ramdev, Anna Hazare and Sri Sri RaviShankar had termed them as RSS’s plan A, B and C respectively.

According to a source, the Congress election managers in Uttar Pradesh were of the view that even if the Lokpal Bill would have been passed in the last two sessions of the Parliament, Anna Hazare would not have been satisfied.

In response to Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh's charge on Sunday that Hazare's photograph with late Nanaji Deshmukh was proof of his (Anna) being an RSS man, the activists of India Against Corruption distributed photographs of several politicians, including Congress leaders with Deshmukh, to all media houses.

However, highly places sources in the Congress camp believe that the allegation against the anti-corruption crusader has left huge impact on the Muslim community.

Hence, sensing the political equations, the Congress now wants that Anna’s regular counters to the party would fetch them political mileage.
