Guiyang: India had mixed luck at the China Open boxing tournament on Tuesday with Monica Saun (60kg) and Pooja Rani (75 kgs) entering the semifinals and compatriot Sonia Lather (51 kgs) faltering in the quarterfinals at Guiyang Sports Gymnasium.

Monica registered an emphatic 29-7 win over Hlaing Kyu Kyu of Myanmar, while Pooja who got a bye in the quarterfinals of the prestigious AIBA 3 Star Tournament, which saw a total
of 140 boxers representing 20 countries.

Monica now will meet Asian Games Gold Medalist Dong Cheng of China, while Pooja will face another local boxer Ning Yuyu in the semifinals.

However, Sonia Lather (51 kgs) was not so lucky and lost her quarterfinal bout to She Kebekova Jaina of Kazakhstan 11-16 after a gallant fight especially in the third and fourth round.
