Intervening during the Question Hour, Thanhawla said, "Constitution of boundary commission was the need of the hour to prevent bloodshed and violence in the region by finding amicable solution to the border disputes with Assam."

Land Revenue and Settlement Minister R Romawia said that the boundary with Assam accepted by government was the border accepted in the treaty signed between the then Mizo chief Suakpuilala and the British government representatives in 1875.

Romawia said Boundary Committee was formed to collect documents to prove the veracity of the claims of Mizoram.
