Jaipur: The Rajasthan Assembly witnessed pandemonium on Monday when Opposition member Bhavani Singh Rajawat hurled a sandal towards the treasury benches which led to adjournment of the House sine die.

As the proceeding of the House began after the lunch break, BJP legislator Pramila Kandera alleged, “18 bigha land of a water body has been allocated to Congress MLA Raghu Sharma’s wife. This is against the Supreme Court’s ruling.”

Expressing reservation over the remarks, Sharma interrupted Kandera while she was speaking in the House. Soon after this, the Opposition members stormed into the Well. Heated words were exchanged between the treasury benches and the Opposition.

In the ruckus, a sandal was seen flying from the Opposition benches towards the Congress MLAs. However, it did not hit anyone.

Later the Speaker adjourned the House. He reviewed the video footage of the incident along with the Deputy Leader of Opposition and the senior Ministers in his chamber.

In video footage, Rajawat was seen hurling a sandal towards the treasury benches. Taking stern action against Rajawat, the Speaker suspended him from the Assembly for a period of one year.
