Badaun (UP): A District Supply Officer (DSO) of Badaun was allegedly caught by a mob on Thursday evening which allegedly tried to set him on fire during a raid at a shop. According to the sources, when the DSO with his team went to raid a shop which was allegedly selling adulterated diesel, a furious mob surrounded them and tried to set the officer ablaze.
 
Acting on a tipoff about the sale of adulterated diesel, DSO Neeraj Singh had gone with his team in the Dehgava village of the district to raid a shop owned by Girish Chandra Gupta who was selling fuels without permit. Moreover, the fuels like diesel and kerosene sold at his shop were allegedly adulterated.

The DSO along with team conducted a surprise raid at the shop but the shop owner fled from the scene locking the store as he had already sensed the surprise raid plan. The family of the shop owner told DSO that Giresh is in Aligarh. Thereafter, DSO started the procedure to seal the shop. Suddenly he was surrounded by a mob including women, which tried to set him afire by sprinkling kerosene on him. The DSO and his team somehow managed to escape from the village.

On his complaint, two FIRs, one against Girish under Essential Commodities Act and another again Girish, Manoj, Sandeep and Mayank and 150 others was lodged for allegedly attacking the officer.
    
Police is trying to arrest the accused who are on the run.
