"The modern police control room opened in Kanpur a year ago has become an example of the modernisation of the police force. The Uttar Pradesh government is now working on establishing such police control rooms with modern equipment in Lucknow, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Allahabad and Noida," UP DGP A L Banerjee said here on Saturday.

Banerjee said this after inspecting the police control room here.

"The control rooms to be established in other districts will also have all modern equipment like the control room in Kanpur. We have inspected the control room here so that if there is anything missing, those things can be added in the control rooms to be established in other districts," he said.

"The establishments of the control rooms in these districts will help police curb the crime rates and will also provide them with modern facilities," he said.

Speaking on the issue of crime against women, the DGP asked people to socially humiliate rapists so that they do not repeat the offence.

"The police is doing its job by sending such criminals to jail, but if the society humiliates them, they will not indulge in the crime again," he said.

Banerjee said from January 1 to August 31, 2014, the state police have arrested around 82 percent rape accused.

He said, however, around 100 of these cases were found that to be false and registered due to disputes.

When asked if the police have received any security alert from the IB in view of the festival season, Banerjee said no such alert had been received.

He said the police is however alert and officials in all districts have been asked to make security arrangements.

Banerjee later held a meeting with police officials of over the law and order situation of the district.
